17 AFRICAN COUNTRIES REFUSE TO CONDEMN RUSSIAN AGGRESSION

The reputation of the Russia private military contractors' capability to contain violent extremism and ensure regime stability in Syria is one of the reasons why African States abstained from voting on the resolution condemning Russia invasion of Ukraine.

Within four years (2015 to 2019) Russia has concluded security bilateral agreements with 21 African countries.

  7. Egypt November (2017) Deliveries of equipment and weapons for counter-terrorism operations.
  8. Eswatini (former Swaziland) (2017) Supply of weapons, maintenance and other military assistance.
  9. Ethiopia (2018) Training and cooperation on peace-keeping and counter-terrorism and antipiracy efforts. Deal not yet in force.
  10. Gambia (2016) Training of armed forces, deliveries of military equipment.
  11. Ghana (2016) Military and technical cooperation. Deal not yet in force.
  12. Guinea (2018) Cooperation on peace-keeping, counter-terrorism, search and rescue at sea. Deal not yet in force.
  13. Mozambique (2017) Deliveries of military equipment, spare parts and component.
  14. Niger (2017) Working meetings of military experts and cooperation on military education.
  15. Nigeria ((2017) Cooperation on military training, peace-keeping and efforts to counterterrorism and anti-piracy.
  16. Rwanda (2016) Supply of weapons and other military equipment.
  17. Sierra Leone (2018) Supply of weapons and other military equipment as well as the provision of other military technical assistance.
  18. Sudan (2018) Develop the Sudanese armed forces
  19. Tanzania (2018) Arms shipments as well as joint training and research and development.
  20. Zambia (2017) Provisions for the supply of weapons and delivery of spare parts.
  21. Zimbabwe (2015) Supply of weapons and cooperation on producing military products.

Currently, Wegner Group, a Russian private military contractor, is operating in six African nations namely: Libya, Sudan, Mozambique, Madagascar, Central African Republic, and Mali.

Africa needs Russia military contractors to contain and neutralize non-state actors threatening peace and security on the continent.

Russia is needed to ensure a peaceful enabling environment, while the West is desired to help make Africa the production factory for Western commodities.
