AALEP CHAIR INVITED TO COACH ROLE PLAYING LOBBYISTS IN STRASBOURG

The 'Bringing Europeans Together Association' (BETA) has invited AALEP Chair, Mr. Christian D. de Fouloy as a guest speaker to their conference Model European Union 2012. BETA is a European politically independent, non-profit association that aims to inspire young people in order to promote intercultural exchanges and understanding and empathy across Europe and beyond. Model European Union is the flagship project of the Association.

Since 2007 Model European Union takes place on an annual basis in the European Parliament. The core of the 7-day conference is a simulation of the interaction between the legislative bodies in the EU, namely the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union. Delegates discuss proposals drafted by the European Commission. In order to make the event as authentic and educational as possible, participants engage in role play as MEPs, Assistant MEPs,  Ministers of the Council, Lobbyists, Journalists, Interpreters, Secretaries, Commissioners etc. Each year BETA gives the opportunity to 180 students from more than 30 countries to participate in this informal educational project.

AALEP Chair will coach 10 participants on 25 March 2012 who will be acting as Lobbyists for the week, and provide them with advice and tips on the best ways to influence legislators as well as on how to best represent interests to the EU and considerations for a lobbying as a career in Brussels.
