THE LOBBYIST’S ROLE IN THE U.S. LEGISLATIVE PROCESS

The legislative process begins when someone believes that a new law is needed or that an old law should be changed. Lobbyists representing say a given association are responsible for making lawmakers aware of how a bill will impact the industry. In addition to the role of introducing proactive legislation to help their industry, lobbyists play defence by reading each bill that is introduced, writing a summary of the bill and sending that summary to key member companies asking them to assess the potential impact the proposed legislation would have on their operations.

EU PROJECTS AND CONSORTIUM BUILDING AND MANAGEMENT

EU projects are usually structured as a collaboration between a group of partners who share tasks and responsibilities. This means that finding the right partners and setting up the collaboration or Consortium is a key preparatory task. Partners need to be complementary to each other, but they must share an interest in the common problem that they are going to tackle in the project . Moreover, the Consortium has to establish management structures and procedures adapted to the type and the complexity of the project. This will also be an important criterion in the evaluation of proposals.

VALORISATION OF EU PROJECTS

Valorisation is a term that includes dissemination and exploitation activities. The overall objective of valorisation is to promote the project and its results and foster their use by different individuals and organisations, with the attempt of continuously spreading and improving the usage and the content of the results. Valorisation involves: 1. Testing and dissemination of the results of the project; 2. The exploitation of the results and their development in new context and environments; 3.

DISSEMINATION OF EU PROJECTS RESULTS

The European Union and its funding bodies, agencies etc. put great emphasis on dissemination and exploitation of results. All projects basically demand dissemination and exploitation of results to lead to a sustainable use. However, only quite a few projects can really show full success with this task.

Available dissemination instruments may include the following

EUROPEAN LOW FARES AIRLINE ASSOCIATION (ELFAA)

The European Low Fares Airline Association (ELFAA) represents the fastest-growing European airline sector. In 2014 ELFAA members carried 236 million passengers (50% of scheduled intra-European traffic) a a year-on-year increase of 9.3%, whilst also strengthening its workforce by 6.7% to 33,697.

ELFAA’s primary objective is to ensure that European policy and legislation promote free and equal competition to enable the continued growth and development of low fares into the future, thereby allowing a greater number of people to travel by air.

EU AVIATION COMPETITIVENESS POLICY

The EU aviation sector serves passengers and EU businesses and has a hugely positive impact on our economy and on the life and mobility of EU citizens and businesses.

The "Aviation Package" is foreseen to identify the challenges facing the EU's aviation sector and measures that can bolster its competitiveness. The Aviation Package is expected to be adopted by the Commission by the end of 2015.
