ACTIVE STAKEHOLDERS IN EU-US T-TIP NEGOTIATIONS

During the sixth round of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership negotiations, the Directorate General for Trade of the European Commission organized a Stakeholder Event on 16 July 2014. At that time, stakeholders were given an opportunity to explain their views to EU and US negotiators as well as to other interested stakeholders, in particular:

  • Issues related to manufacturing including horizontal regulatory coherence, technical barriers to trade (TBT), specific sectors, energy and raw materials.
  • Issues related to agriculture including agricultural market access, other related regulatory issues and Geographical Indications.
  • Issues related to services, investment and public procurement
  • Issues related to rules- sustainable development, customs and trade facilitation, competition and state-owned enterprises (SOEs), small and medium enterprises (SMEs)

Stakeholders were brief in detail by the EU and US Chief Negotiators on the status of the negotiations and had the opportunity to exchange views with them.

366 stakeholders including non-governmental organisations, consumers' associations, workers/trade unions, professional organisations, industry and business associations, companies and other civil society organisations from either the European Union or the United States did participate.
