EU Health and Food Safety Policy Commitments 2014-2019

• Complete implementation of the Cross-border Healthcare Directive and improve access to medicines in Europe through cooperation on health technology assessments (HTA)
• Work with Member States to complete implementation of the Tobacco Products Directive and ensure timely adoption of related secondary legislation
• Defend EU health and food safety standards in the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP)
• Continue work on a performance assessment of Member State health systems, including the creation of a common methodology
• Focus on three ‘Ps’: prevention, promotion and protection
• Support the pooling of Member States’ healthcare resources
• Review legislation on the authorisation of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) in agriculture within six months
• Make progress on the definition of criteria of endocrine disruptors
