TRANSPARENCY AND INTEGRITY IN LOBBYING: HOW TO WIN BACK THE TRUST (OECD)

As part of the OECD Trust Agenda, the OECD Public Sector Integrity Network hosted the OECD Forum on Transparency and Integrity in Lobbying on 27 and 28 June in Paris, France.  The Forum mobilized 115 participants representing 26 OECD and partner countries, the EU, private sector, lobbying associations, trade unions and civil society.

PUBLIC POLICY ADVOCACY OF TRAVEL AGENTS AND TOUR OPERATORS

The Group of National Travel Agents’ and Tour Operators’ Associations within the EU, in short ECTAA is the voice of European travel agents and tour operators. It aims to monitor all relevant legislative and non-legislative initiatives, inform and consult its Members and represent their interests vis-à-vis European Union institutions and international organizations. ECTAA's activities are concentrated on the EU policies, which may have an impact on tourism. ECTAA acts in addition with other instances that have an impact on the industry in Europe.

PUBLIC POLICY ADVOCACY OF AIRSPACE USERS

Airspace users include air carriers, pilots, aircraft operators and passengers. Major Associations include the Association of European Airlines (AEA); the European Low Fares Airline Association (ELFAA), the European Regions Airline Association (ERA ) and the European Business Aviation Association (EBAA).

NEW PRESIDENT TAKES THE REINS OF THE CROATIAN LOBBYISTS ASSOCIATION

On 17 July 2013, the General Assembly of the Croatian Lobbyists Association (HDL) held in Zagreb elected unanimously Mr. Natko Vlahovic as the new President of the Association. Natko Vlahovic who served as General Secretary of the HDL since its establishment in 2008 is also the Managing Director and Owner of the public affairs firm Vlahovic Group. Mr. Vlahovic is an accredited lobbyist within the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium.

Founding President Mr. Mate Granic was granted the ceremonial position of honorary president.

UPDATE ON TTIP'S FIRST ROUND OF NEGOTIATIONS

The negotiating groups ( 150 delegates in 24 working groups) set out the EU's and US's respective approaches and ambitions in roughly 20 of the areas that the TTIP is expected to cover. They included: market access for agricultural and industrial goods, government procurement, investment, energy and raw materials, regulatory issues, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, services, intellectual property rights, sustainable development, small- and medium-sized enterprises, dispute settlement, competition, customs/trade facilitation, and state-owned enterprises.
