ORGANIZATIONS OF JOURNALISTS IN BRUSSELS

  1. API/IPA (Association de la Presse Internationale/International Press Association: Representing international journalists in Brussels, API/IPA is an independent association of journalists run by journalists. It is not financed by any EU institution. The association's main aim is to represent journalists in their professional ealings with the EU institutions and help resolve any problems that may arise between them. www.api-ipa.eu
  2. European Journalism Centre: The EJC is an independent non-profit, mid-career training centre. It aims to promote the highest standards in journalism. Relying on its extensive network of journalism trainers, experts and media specialists, the EJC offers short, intensive seminars for journalists across Europe and beyond.   3. Residence Palace-International Press Centre: The Residence Palace International Press Centre is a conference venue for journalists, policymakers, researchers and communications experts. It has rental facilities for meetings, a press working area, bar and restaurant. It also rent offices for journalists and press agencies. www.presscenter.org
  4. Journalists@Your Service: J@YS is a help centre and information hub for journalists in Brussels. It is run by a small group of journalists representing all the major press associations present in Brussels. www.brusselsreporter.eu
  5. International Federation of Journalists (IFJ): The IFJ is the world's largest organization of journalists. Today the Federation represents around 600,000 members in over 100 countries. www.ifj.org
  6. European Federation of Journalists (EFJ): The EFJ is the European branch of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ). Its members are unions or associations of journalists, making the EFJ Europe's largest organization of journalists representing about 250,000 journalists in over 30 countries. www.europe.ifg.org
  7. Vlaamse Vereniging van Journalisten (VVJ). The VVJ is the Flemish 'wing' of the Belgian association of professional journalists. It defends the rights and interests of about 2,700 journalists, mostly working for Belgian Dutch-speaking media. www.journalist.be
  8. Association des Journalistes Professionnels (AJP): The AJP is the French-speaking 'wing' of the Belgian association of professional journalists. It defends the rights and interests of about 2,600 journalists, most of them working for Belgian French-speaking media. www.agjpb.be/ajp

Association des Journalistes Professionnels de Belgique (AGJPB)/Algemene Vereniging van Beroepsjournalisten in België (AVBB): The General Association for Professional Journalists in Belgium includes the French-speaking association AJP (Association des Journalistes Professionnels) and the Dutch-speaking association VVJ (Vlaamse Vereniging van Journalisten). The AJP, VVJ and AGJPB work together to defend the rights of Belgian professional journalists and to promote high-quality information.

National Union of Journalists (NUJ): The NUJ is an active campaigning organization seeking to improve the pay and conditions of its members in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland and working to protect and promote media freedom, professionalism and ethical standards in all media.
