PROFILE: THE SWISS PUBLIC AFFAIRS SOCIETY (SPAG-SSPA)

The Swiss Public Affairs Society (SSPA) is a professional association having for purpose the increase of awareness among authorities and the public of the reason and value of political, economic and cultural lobbying and its contribution to the democratic decision-making process. The SSPA counts about 230 members.

Purposes

• The SSPA also intends to act positively on the working conditions of its members notably as regards facilitation of access to Parliament and the authorities;
• Encouraging professional and ethic reliability of its members and thus increase respect for the profession.
• Through information and communication of high quality, the Association intends to contribute to the improvement of political functioning.

Accreditation

The SSPA contributes to the accreditation of lobbyistes at national level by

1. Issuing accreditation recommendations to competent authorities;
2. Subordinating the issue of these recommendations to respect of its code of ethics;
3. The ethics committee also recommends to competent authorities withdrawal of accreditation in case of non-respect of the code of ethics.
