TEMPLATE FOR PROTOCOL OF COOPERATION WITH AALEP

This template provides a framework for establishing a collaborative, mutually beneficial relationship and consultation process with the Association of Accredited Public Policy Advocates to the European Union (AALEP).

Key Provisions of the Cooperation Protocol

  1. Free membership swap. Associate Membership provides an entitlement to participate in meetings, events, projects, programmes;
  2. Development and agreement on list of priorities for the cooperation initiative;
  3. Exchange of logos and weblinks and display on respective websites;
  4. Co-ordination and representation at EU level and conversely co-ordination and representation of AALEP at national level to optimize communication channels to political and economic institutions;
  5. Joint press releases, speeches, briefing papers;
  6. Joint organization of symposia, conferences, seminars, workshops, short courses on government relations issues;
  7. Joint research and continuing education programmes in government relations;
  8. Joint practical training in pre-identified areas;
  9. Training materials exchange pertaining to developments in teaching, student development and research;
  10. Joint consultancy in the development of educational projects of mutual interest;
  11. Joint consultancy on the most appropriate legal framework for regulation of lobbying activities and relevant codes of conduct;
  12. Joint consultancy services to clients on either side;
  13. Publication of activities;
  14. Encouraging recruitment of new members on both sides;
  15. Organization and exchange visits for lectures and sharing of experiences.

Measurable Criteria: Satisfaction by the parties of the key general provisions with opportunities to amend the Protocol.

Obligations of the Parties

To implement the Protocol of Cooperation the parties commit themselves to provide the necessary conditions:

  1. Both sides will maintain ongoing communication and circulate information in a timely manner.
  2. Both parties agree that all financial agreements to implement this Protocol must be negotiated and will depend on the availability of funds. Neither party shall have any financial obligation to the other party.
  3. Each party acts on its own behalf in all relations with a third party. Neither party will be responsible for any outside commitments of the other party.
  4. The parties shall remain independent of one another and nothing in the Protocol shall be construed or interpreted by implication or otherwise, to form a partnership, agency, joint venture or other formal business association.
